Working for a tobacco-free Scotland
You are here: Home » Alliances » Scottish Tobacco Control Alliance (STCA) » STCA topic groups » Research Group
Professionals with an interest in both research into tobacco related issues and the policy environment surrounding research development are encouraged to network through this group. The group has proved very useful for highlighting the latest research into the social, economic and health effects of smoking in Scotland and in thoughtfully considering the results of information gathering and service evaluations.
By bringing together scientists, social researchers and those who commission and make use of the research findings, this group has helped build new connections and working relationships between academia and service providers.
The Group Chair is Dr Susan Kerr, a Public Health Nurse, who is a Reader in the Institute for Applied Health Research/School of Health and Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University. The position of Vice-Chair is held by Heide Weishaar. Heide, who has previously worked as a physiotherapist, is now a PhD student at the Centre for Population Health Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Minutes of group meetings are held in the pass-worded members' area.
