1st National Symposium on Tobacco and Mental Health

On the 4th May 2005 ASH Scotland hosted Scotland’s first ever national symposium on tobacco and mental health. The purpose of the event emerged from research gathered which indicated a need to involve all health and non-health service and social care services to respond to unmet health needs relating to tobacco use of mental health service users.

A foreword and report on the event are available to read for further information.

Since the symposium The Scottish Government has been leading a Mental Health and Tobacco Working Group to take forward recommendations from the event and to develop a framework on "Moving towards Smoke-free Mental Health Services".
