France

A decree to end smoking in most enclosed public places was issued on 16th November 2006 and came into force on 1st February 2007. Smoking was prohibited in schools, offices, factories, shopping centres, entertainment venues, stations, airports and government facilities. Restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and casinos became smoke-free on 1st January 2008. Further information on France’s smoke-free legislation is available at: http://www.tabac.gouv.fr/

SNCF (the French state railway company) introduced a ban on smoking in late 2005 and all Air France flights are non-smoking.
