The Unwelcome Guest
How Scotland invited the tobacco industry to smoke outside
Scotland going smoke-free is the most radical public health decision taken since devolution; it makes Scotland the leader across the UK in tackling the issue of tobacco harm caused by second-hand smoke. Using previously uncovered tobacco industry documents as well as government, press and internal archives, ASH Scotland’s report tells the story of how the decision to ban smoking in public places was made.
This report was launched by Dr. Jeffrey Wigand, the former tobacco industry researcher who revealed that the tobacco industry knew and hid the dangers of smoking cigarettes. The report includes a foreword by Dr Wigand.
