Project Profile
This project aimed to gather information to inform the development of training/educational initiatives to encourage members of the primary care team to provide older adults with information and advice that will help them to stop smoking.  The research team explored the knowledge, practice and attitudes of members of the primary care team in relation to smoking and smoking cessation interventions in later life.  The views of older current and former smokers were also explored in relation to smoking, stopping smoking, smoking cessation resources and any support received from health professionals.

The Executive Summary and Final Report of this project are available upon request via enquiries@ashscotland.org.uk.

The project was subsequently successful in securing one year's funding from the Tobacco and Inequalities Small Grants Fund for work, and sought to tailor smoking cessation training for members of the primary care team who work with older adults.
