Organisation: NHS Argyll and Clyde (as was)Lead / Main Contact: Anne Bryce / Deborah RitchieDuration: 2 years, 2 months (May 2003-June 2005)
Target Group: Low Income
Project Profile:This project explored a culturally attuned method of supporting smoking cessation in a low-income community. Smokers at all stages of the Cycle of Change were welcome on this open ended programme of group work support, which used narrative-based interventions to engage smokers in the task of considering stopping smoking and staying stopped. An analysis of the narrative was conducted. The work also involved development, piloting and evaluation of a training programme for smoking cessation practitioners based on the learning outcomes of the analysis and evaluation process, combined with an investigation into the theory and practice narrative therapy.
