Project Profile:
This project offered smoking cessation advice to a cohort of patients with potentially malignant lesions attending Glasgow and Dundee Dental hospitals (due to operational issues, Dundee Dental School withdrew early 2005). Patients were randomly allocated to receive either a) advice based on the 5As (Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, Arrange follow up for patient), or b) Behaviour Change Counselling - taking into consideration average alcohol intake.
