Working with Local Tobacco Control Alliances
The Local Alliances Officer provides support and assistance to established and developing Local Tobacco Control Alliances.
At the beginning of 2007 the results of a mapping of Local Tobacco Control Alliances in Scotland was published by ASH Scotland. This document was accompanied by a response from ASH Scotland which set out the way in which the project would support the practical creation and ongoing development of local tobacco control alliances in Scotland.
To meet the needs identified during the mapping exercise, ASH Scotland, in the first phase of the Local Alliances Project, will develop several areas of work some of which are detailed below. More in depth information can be found by clicking on the relevant paragraph:
Local Alliance Seminars Organise regional seminars both to generate dialogue and engagement, and to explore how national tobacco control priorities can translate into practical action at a local level.
Local Alliance Communications Build a communications network providing opportunities for alliances to exchange intelligence and information whatever their stage of development.
Local Alliance Activity Maintain a record of local tobacco control activity from across Scotland to ensure continued communication and learning and to promote the sharing of good practice.
Media Support Pack Develop a media support pack to enable alliances to establish good relations with local media.
Reducing Tobacco Sales to Young People (pdf 636kb) - A collaborative working guide for organisations and agencies who wish to contribute to reducing tobacco sales of tobacco to under-eighteens.
