Raising the issue of smoking during pregnancy

The 'Raising the issue of smoking during pregnancy' training course uses a blended approach in order to increase the ease of accessibility for participants.  There are two versions of this course available: a mini version and an expanded version.  Both versions use a combination of e-learning and face-to-face training methods.  The e-learning component focuses on knowledge, whereas the participatory session focuses on developing confidence when delivering brief advice to pregnant women.

Mini training: 1-2 hours e-learning and 90 minutes participatory session
Expanded training: 1-2 hours e-learning and 4-5 hours participatory session

Intended participants

The training (mini and expanded) is aimed at the entire maternity and post-natal team, including community and in-patient midwives, sonographers, obstetricians, health visitors, health care assistants or anyone who may come into contact with pregnant women or women who have recently given birth, during their day to day activities.

This course will support local health board areas meet the Health Promoting Health Service smoking action (HPHS CEL14).

How will it be delivered?
