ASH Scotland responds to tobacco giant backing down on FOI

28 November 2011

In response to Phillip Morris International backing away from its Freedom of Information request to Stirling University, Chief Executive of anti-tobacco charity ASH Scotland Sheila Duffy said:

“ASH Scotland is pleased that, in the face of public concern and criticism, Phillip Morris International seems no longer to be pursuing its Freedom of Information request to access Stirling University’s research. This valuable data on young people’s attitudes to tobacco should certainly be kept out of the hands of the tobacco industry, whose main aim is to increase profits. The information will remain safe with those who are working to protect our young people from this lethal and addictive substance.”
