ASH Scotland, Alcohol Focus Scotland, and Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems held this conference to considered the progress of alcohol and tobacco control and explore what each sector might learn from the other. The event was addressed by Chief Executive of AFS Evelyn Gillan and Chief Executive of ASH Scotland Sheila Duffy and chaired by health journalist and broadcaster Pennie Taylor.
This Summit was an opportunity for all those involved in countering the damaging effects of alcohol and tobacco on Scotland’s health, social relations and economy to come together to hear the latest analysis and ideas from professionals involved in the field of public health. Importantly this Summit looked to delegates to contribute towards new solutions through question & answer sessions, facilitated table discussions, and panel discussions.

In addition delegates heard directly from policy makers with an address from Minister for Public Health Shona Robison MSP (pictured above l-r: Pennie Taylor, Dr Evelyn Gillan, Shona Robison, Sheila Duffy).
In addition, a participative Question Time style debate with the Health Spokespeople of the five parties represented at Holyrood was held. As there was not time to ask all the many questions submitted to the panel, the political parties were asked to provide a written response. The detailed responses from the parties is available here.
