Background

Launched in 2009, this innovative audio-visual resource provides an introduction to a wide range of tobacco-related products which are available and consumed in Scotland within some black and minority ethnic communities.   Not all tobacco products are smoked in cigarettes and pipes - they may be chewed, inhaled or consumed with other products such as areca nuts in paan.  Tobacco represents a risk to health however it is ingested, and some of the ingredients with which it is mixed pose health risks of their own.  The resource aims to highlight the variety of products used and the social and cultural context in which they are used.
