The REFRESH team have now produced a How to Guide - Creating a smoke-free home that will help professionals working with families and children to raise the issue of second-hand smoke in the home and car.
The REFRESH guide has information on second-hand smoke and its health effects; plenty of hints and tips for parents on how to create a smoke-free home as well as the benefits of reducing their smoking in the home and car.
This guide is not about quitting smoking but is designed to help parents reduce their children's exposure to second-hand smoke in the home and car. Throughout the guide there is plenty of evidence-based advice and information that professionals and parents will find useful.
The REFRESH guide has been peer-developed and produced with the help of parents, child-minders, second-hand smoke coordinators and other professionals.
We hope that you find it a useful resource and if you have any comments on the guide please contact April Shaw, Senior Researcher (april.shaw@ashscotland.org.uk) or Rachel O'Donnell, Project Leader (Rachel.ODonnell@ashscotland.org.uk).
