Youth action groups/campaigns

  • W-WEST (Why Waste Everything Smoking Tobacco?) is Scotland's first pro-choice smoking information movement, led by young people, for young people. The group has a fun interactive website where young people can learn more, leave messages, see facts about smoking and the tobacco industry, find local smoking cessation support and watch smoking-related videos.
W-WEST are working to raise awareness of how the tobacco industry uses marketing and 'cool' packaging to attract young smokers to their brands. The campaign is entitled 'The Plain Truth' which included a survey aimed at all young people aged 10 - 17, and in return for completing it, young people were offered the chance to enter a prize draw to win an iPod shuffle, X Box or cinema vouchers.  The survey has now been completed and results are currently being analysed.
W-WEST are planning an event at Hampden Park on Saturday 26th February where you can find out 'The Plain Truth About W-WEST.'   It will be a great day with workshops, games & prizes to be won & it is FREE to come along!  Download the flyer at: www.w-west.org.uk/campaigns-and-events.html or register online to attend at:  www.w-west.org.uk/The-Plain-Truth-Registration-Form.html
