Helping young people quit

PATH have worked in collaboration with Fast Forward Positive Lifestyles to develop an exciting new 1 day training course aimed at existing stop-smoking specialists who have experience in tobacco and delivering cessation support but who may be new to working with young people. In particular, this training is for those specialists who have little or no knowledge/experience of direct work with young people and wish to increase their knowledge and confidence in this area.

Course learning outcomes

  • demonstrate an awareness of the complex factors relating to why young people smoke
  • explain the nature of tobacco use among young people and assess their level of dependence
  • consider the different needs presented when supporting young people to stop smoking
  • explore ways to effectively and confidently support a young person to stop smoking.

Course Dates

The next delivery of this training course will be held on 24 August 2012.
