Taking action on smoking and health
In 2023, ASH Scotland along with Keep Scotland Beautiful, Marine Conservation Society and Scotland-based climate activist Laura Young is calling on the Scottish Government to ban disposable e-cigarettes to help move Scotland toward a sustainable circular economy and protect children and young people from risks to their long-term health.
You can read our joint 'Tackling the environmental and health impacts of e-cigarettes' briefing published in February 2023 here and our own briefing from November 2022 here.We welcome the Scottish Government's urgent review of the environmental impacts and management of disposable e-cigarettes in Scotland and look forward to its publication and recommendations. To support the coalition's campaign:Take a photo of any disposable e-cigarettes you find littered in your community and share it on social media. Don't forget to use the hashtag #BanDisposableVapesCheck whether your local council has already voted to support the campaign calling on the Scottish Government to ban disposable e-cigarettes and, if they haven't, email the councillors representing the ward you live in to encourage their support to tackle this important issue.
