Here you will find resources you can use to spread the message about the Charter and support your pledges towards a tobacco-free generation. If your organisation hasn't pledged their support yet you can register your support here.

Charter LogoPrinted copies of selected resources are also available from ASH Scotland on request, please email your requirements to enquiries@ashscotland.org.uk.

Charter logos and image library: a library of logos, assets and graphics that Charter supporters can access for use on their own publications and online platforms. 
You will also find helpful guidance notes, providing suggestions for promoting the Charter and how to make use of these complementary resources.

Resources by theme

The Charter initiative enables organisations to help reduce the harm caused by smoking in their communities. Support and resources are available on a range of topics, click the links for further details.

We’re always adding to our resources, please let us know if there's a specific resource you'd find useful.

ELearning:  access a series of short, free eLearning courses on a variety of issues.

Young people: resources for supporting young people to be smoke-free.

  • Tobacco-free Generation supports youth workers to incorporate smoking within wider health and wellbeing objectives and their youth work practice. 
  • #Befree resources help young people to identify with being happier, fitter, better off by being smoke-free.

  • Tobacco-free Schools: a range of practical, user-friendly tools and support materials for schools developing tobacco policies, lessons and resources.

Children and families: resources and training to help encourage and enable families to reduce their children’s exposure to second-hand smoke in the home.

  • Talking to teens about smoking: a resource for parents and carers.

  • Play Smoke-free: resources specifically designed with early years services & primary schools in mind, to encourage smoke-free places for children to play, learn & socialise.
  • Children's Rights: an information poster linking the Charter to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • Looked after and accommodated young people: policy guidance for residential providers, developed in partnership with the Care Inspectorate.
Underage supply: the #notafavour campaign challenges the attitudes and assumptions that lie behind giving cigarettes to children. Free resource available.

Colleges and universities: guidance and resources to help create a smoke-free campus.

Mental health:  The IMPACT project provides guidance, support and training for staff and volunteers supporting people with mental health problems.

Finances: Free resources to help raise the issue of smoking in a money advice setting in a constructive and non-judgemental way.

Pharmacies, optometrists and dentists: Simple resources and referral cards to help raise the issue of smoking in these settings.

We can offer our Charter Supporters free guidance and support to improve the way they engage with people and communities around smoking, health, finances and inequality. If you’re looking for extra support with your Charter pledges or would like to share your work please contact cbennett@ashscotland.org.uk.
