Taking action on smoking and health
Dietitians work diligently to promote the health and wellbeing of their patients so that they can live a long and fulfilling life. As a part of this work, it is their top priority to support their patients in healthy decision making. Dietitians are well placed to inform people on the benefits of quitting smoking in order to improve their overall wellbeing. In fact, research shows that smoking contributes to many of the same illness that patients come to dieticians looking to treat. ASH Scotland has created an advice card specifically tailored to the needs and interests of people coming into dietician’s clinics and we are offering the card for use by Charter supporters.

We encourage dietitians to sign our Charter which aims to support the Scottish Government’s goal of a tobacco free generation 2034. By signing the Charter, we at ASH Scotland will support you to encourage patients to seek help from Stop Smoking Advisers.

Dietitians can play a key role in helping parents to give up smoking which of course will send a positive message to children about the importance of looking after your health. Sign the Charter and be proactive in preventing the largest cause of preventable death in Scotland!
